Your flatmate liked the café on the corner back when it was a launderette. Now it does oat flat whites and has a queue. He walks the long way round, in silence, on principle. "You won't have heard of them." You have. You saw them at the same pub in 2014. You stood next to him at the bar. He will never forgive you for this. A colleague has used a paper notebook since before notebooks came back. Now the whole office has one. She has moved on to index cards, and is already tired of you all. Your sister has stopped watching the series because "everyone's watching it now". She was on season four. Nobody she knows had started season one. **Why it caught on:** a kitten in a lavender hoodie and thick-framed glasses looks exactly like the friend who heard the band first, and everyone has secretly been that friend. Cats, wearing hoods indoors and judging your music, were doing it all along.
